Augusto - I'm just now seeing this post! Thanks for sharing about my Retweet!

I like to think that I have several "other desks'. It's a frame of mind for me. At my primary desk I have everything I need to do anything. This also means that there can be lots of distractions and it means that I can easily get overwhelmed at the number of things I have to do because they can all be done in that context.

I've recently discovered that it's helpful though to go to some other place to perform a specific task. One morning I needed to focus on preparing a Sunday School lesson so I took just the materials I needed and drove to a nearby lake; for a few hours, me desk was a picnic table under a shelter in a pouring rain storm. Sometimes if I have something I really want to focus on, I'll go our front porch or the hammock in our back yard for the explicit purpose of reading it on my Xoom or Kindle--those are my front-porch-wicker-chair and backyard-hammock desks. :-) Sometimes I'll take the laptop to a coffee shop--and the table there becomes my desk. Sometimes my other desk is a seat on an airplane or even the driver's seat in my truck.

Ultimately though, the benefit comes from a combination of: 1) a change of scenery, 2) elimination of distractions, and 3) resolution to perform a specific task at that specific place and time.

Thanks for your comment Rick.

You hit in the nail on my idea, I am not sure they will be the expected stuff or not, but the stuff I am interested in share. I especially want to make the blog part as fun as the fiction and non fiction writing.

Stay tuned, I hope it gets fun :)

I look forward to the new posts. When I first started, my blog was mostly productivity and motivation. Several years ago I started just writing whatever I felt like sharing regardless of whether it was in a niche that people expected from me or not. I feel that's worked well for me. I think you'll like it better that way too. :-)

I like how the book presents the question are you better off knowing these secrets or not…. better yet, I like how Wila's character pursues the knowledge of the secrets so intensely that the mere pursuit of it sets up dysfunctions that compete with the detriment of the secrets itself.
